About Premjyoti Society

Founded on October 4, 1996, by Mr. Pawan Kumar and Mrs. Sheela, Premjyoti Society was born from a vision to serve those who need it most — the disabled, the marginalized, and the socially deprived communities of rural India.

For nearly three decades, we have been working tirelessly in and around Varanasi to provide special education, medical care, vocational training, and community health programs. Our mission is to create an inclusive society where every individual has the opportunity to live with dignity and purpose.

🧠 Special Education Programs

Our Special Education division is dedicated to providing individualized learning experiences for children and adults with disabilities. We work with trained special educators who understand the unique needs of each learner.

Our programs cover:

  • Mental Retardation — Structured learning programs with individualized education plans (IEPs) to maximize cognitive development and daily living skills.
  • Cerebral Palsy — Integrated therapeutic and educational approaches, combining physical therapy with adaptive learning tools and assistive technology.
  • Hearing Impairment — Sign language instruction, speech therapy, auditory training, and inclusive classroom environments with visual aids.

🏥 Physiotherapy Unit & Medical Care

Health is the foundation of a meaningful life. Our physiotherapy unit and medical care programs ensure that every individual we serve receives the physical care they need.

  • Regular Medical Checkups — Scheduled health screenings and consultations with qualified medical professionals.
  • Physiotherapy Sessions — Personalized rehabilitation programs for improved mobility, strength, and independence.
  • Mobility Equipment Support — Providing wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, and other assistive devices to those in need.
  • Referral Network — Connections to specialized hospitals and medical centers for advanced treatment.

🧵 Vocational Training Programs

Empowerment through skill-building is at the heart of our vocational programs. We believe that economic independence is key to lasting social change.

  • Tailoring Centers for Women — Established in remote villages, these centers train women in garment-making, embroidery, and textile skills, enabling them to earn a sustainable livelihood.
  • Computer Training — Basic to intermediate computer skills including MS Office, internet usage, and digital literacy for youth and adults.
  • Handicraft & Artisan Skills — Preserving traditional crafts while creating market-ready products for income generation.
  • Life Skills Training — Communication, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship basics for holistic self-sufficiency.

🏕️ Community Health & Outreach

We extend our reach beyond our center through community programs that bring healthcare, awareness, and support directly to underserved populations.

  • Free Medical Camps — Regular health camps organized in rural and semi-urban areas providing free checkups, medicines, and health education.
  • Parent Counseling — Guidance and emotional support for parents of children with disabilities, helping them understand their child's needs and rights.
  • Awareness Campaigns — Community education on disability rights, inclusion, hygiene, and preventive healthcare.
  • Home-based Rehabilitation — Outreach teams visit families unable to travel, providing therapy and educational support at their doorstep.
